Past glory looking forward revival
The hotel was under renovation during our stay. The property shows its age but the staff do their upmost to keep up while the renovation progresses. Convenient location, good bedding, clean good sized room. Unblocked view towards the Chihkan tower. My luggage was damaged after I left it at the bell counter at early check in. The manager and the staff worked to find a workable fix for the rest of the trip. Wifi does not work if that is important to you. -

Test case ~ actually have more choices
The hotel is near the red cut and walk for about 5 minutes. It is quite convenient for several monuments and attractions, and the hotel offers cycling and motorbikes for sightseeing in Tainan. But also provide free parking, but the underground parking lot when the need to go to the opposite side of the road parking lot, a little inconvenient. The hotel offers a simple breakfast ~ -

Well maintained hotel just 3 minutes walk from Fort Provintia
Stayed at the hotel for two nights in early January 2017. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Tainan Train Station (better take a taxi if you are carrying heavy luggages) and just steps from Fort Provintia (Chihkan Tower). It is also within walking distance to some well-knownTaiwanese restaurants. The twin room we stayed in was clean and spacious though the renovation was a bit outdated. Wifi was OK inside the room though not too stable on the first night. Staff at the reception was helpful and assisted in calling restaurants to make bookings for dinner. Basic buffet breakfast was served in the restaurant on 8/F. -

So-so.
Small, basic rooms. First one we were given reeked of cigarette smoke even though it was a non-smoking room so the hotel was kind enough to give us another one. Didn't try out the breakfast nor the other facilities so can't comment on those. If all you need is a place to sleep and you're not fussy about luxuries or views, this is ok. But there are temples nearby and so be prepared to be woken up by loud noises on the Sunday morning you want to sleep in. Friendly and helpful staff, though. -

Very impressive property
I got a great rate through expedia for this property and certainly I was very impressed. It's located relatively near to the train station, although perhaps it was a longer walk than I had figured and with bags, it wasn't that easy. The hotel does have a shuttle van, but according to the desk, it only runs in the afternoons, which didn't really make sense. It just sits there in the mornings? I think there was a communication issue. The rooms are large and comfortable, with very large, comfortable beds and all the bedding and towels were in pristine condition. There's free wifi which is very reliable and many international TV stations. The bathrooms are a bit older, but nonetheless clean and there was a bath tub, which was a nice find as most Taiwan hotels seem to only offer shower stalls. All the standard amenities came with the bathroom. There's free water, tea, coffee and a kettle as well as a fridge. Breakfast is plentiful if a little too heavily skewed to the Asian diet, but there was espresso coffee, which was a first for me in Taiwan! Great location, great value and great experience. Definitely a spot worth seeking out for inexpensive comfort.
