Convenient and Simple with Stellar Staff
The location is top-notch, very close to the train station and central to just about anywhere you might want to go in the city. The facilities are minimal (it's a youth hostel!) but things are kept clean and in good order. Five stars is for the service. The ladies running the place take shifts and between them they speak just about every language you might need. They were incredibly helpful, friendly, and probably fed me a meal or two worth of snacks and treats from local vendors. The hostel is small so there isn't a big social scene in the common space, but I still met plenty of people and got to chat. Overall very pleasant and would stay there again. -

comfortable hostel
A comfortable and cozy female hostel, with clean and quiet environment. I stayed in 8-bed dorm and it was not full throughout my stay. I met some good friends there. just not close to the train terminal. -

Clean & comfortable, but no staff
Stayed one night in the 4-bed dorm. The place was clean and comfortable enough, especially for the price. There were a couple odd quirks though - it's branded as a female-only hostel, yet there is a urinal in the washroom (?!). Also, the notice in each room states that quiet time starts at 10pm, and even asks not to use a hair dryer after 11pm. However, despite wearing earplugs, I was woken up after midnight by many people talking loudly downstairs. Because the one staff member is strangely absent (we only saw her once or twice very briefly), I assumed there must not have been any staff on site, and I sent a message to the hostel about it. It turned out, the staff member herself was the one hosting the raucous party downstairs! Thankfully, they quieted down right away. So basically, if you are not a light sleeper and just want a comfortable place to sleep, it's fine. Don't expect the social, helpful atmosphere found at most backpacker's hostels (unless perhaps you're already friends with the manager ;) ). It is very central, easy enough to find, comfortable, and cheap. -

Perfect location, all female hostel
We booked this hostel on HostelWorld. We are a married man and woman and indicated this when booking. The staff was surprised when we arrived and informed us that it was an all female hostel! Oops! Thankfully they honored our booking and we had a private room with bathroom, so we wouldn't be interacting with the other guests anyway. We loved the location - excellent coffee shop next door, soup dumplings around the corner... yum! It's tucked down an adorable lane, hidden from the street and the noise, but only steps away. The staff is a bit absent, so if you have questions for them, ask when you first arrive... you may never see them again! But when you do, they are very friendly and helpful. -

Cheap accomadation with the local culture
Wanting to indulge in the Tainan culture, associates had pre organised a couple of night at The Good Garden on my behalf. Let me start by saying this is no 4 or 5 star accommodation. This is tiny 'back packer' dorm accommodation upstairs with one larger bedroom with unsuit on the ground floor and very tiny kitchen/common room. I was assured by the other occupancies this is one of the better and cleanest backpacker accommodations in Tainan. This is a very small premise, down a back lane and somewhat difficult to find with out local advise. The staff are genuinely friendly, very helpful and eager to assist The rooms and area are extremely clean. Large Parks and Temples at either end of the lane and the local streets are safe and interesting. There is good coffee and eats on every nearby corner. Not sure if this could recommend as business accommodation, but I would certainly recommend Good Garden for local and international backpackers wanting see the local culture. English was no problem Sincere thanks to Carrie and the gang at Good Garden for interesting stay. Mr. B Australia
