Barclay Memorial Park(巴克禮公園)

Traveler rating:4.5 36 Reviews

Friday:Open 24 hours a day

Located in the East District of Tainan (台南市東區), opposite the Tainan Cultural Center (台南文化中心), the large Barclay Memorial Park (巴克禮公園) acts as the lungs of the city. To say it is Tainan's most popular park and full of artistic flavor would not be an exaggeration. Spring and Summer turn the park lush with green, with occasional fluorescents at night; fall and winter it is sprinkled with yellow and red fallen plumeria pine needles, and shadows are cast everywhere you walk. The park is often full of happy picnicking crowds, just like in the Central Park in New York City. This park, named in memory of Rev. Dr. Thomas Barclay, as well as being a favorite of Tainan's residents, was also voted one of 10 best parks in Taiwan, won the First Annual National Landscape Award, and in 2007, won the Merit Award in the Public Construction Category of the FIABCI Prix d' Excellence Awards, known as the Oscars of real estate, successes that are a source of pride for the residents of the city.

A beautiful park hiden in a silent community but easily accessible. The location is opposite to the Culture Center of Tainan City across a drive way. If you are nearby this area, you can visit by the way.

Bakelite (Barclay) Memorial Park is a nice small path to take a walk after lunch, but gets too crowded in the late afternoon. Just a very short distance from the Evergreen Hotel and Right across Tainan City Cultural Hall

One of the most preserved park in Tainan. I saw some cafes nearby, looks cozy. It's located on the opposite of Tainan Cultural Centre

A nice place for a stroll, but nothing special

I used to jog in this park but found that the sidewalks were too crowded with people walking. It is a nice park with some benches, but no picnic tables. There can be a lot of mosquitos at night.

Just a park for jogging, doing taichi and other exercises

if you enjoy nature but do not want to go hiking, this is a great place to go. In the evening, it will be full of people jogging, bring their pets for a walk and exercises. This park is located behind of Chongming Elementary school. It is clean and beautiful
