Sunset Platform(觀夕平台)

Traveler rating:3.5 37 Reviews

Monday:Open 24 hours a day

Sunset Platform (觀夕平台), located in Anping Harbor National Historical Park (安平港國家歷史風景區), has become a popular scenic spot in recent years. The triangular platform, protected on two sides by trees, creates a lush green scene, and in front of the platform is the beautiful blue ocean view. In the afternoon, it is common to see families bring their children to play with sand and fly kites on the beach, or two to three friends roll up their trousers and paddle through the waves along the shore, but sunset is when the most people come to stand on the platform. Sunset Platform's low light source design makes it not only good for viewing the sea in the daytime, the low light pollution also allows the glittering stars to be seen at night, making this a popular location whenever a meteor shower is forecast.

This broad waterway has tree lined embankments and nice paths for a stroll. It offers a pleasant environment and a chance to sit and relax.

Delightful walks along the canal (when it's not too hot)

    Traveler rating:4 2019-04

I think this would be best done closer to the evening when the lights come up and the heat goes down. We walked part of it in the mid afternoon and had to quit. I could see it was a pleasant area to walk. Tip: both sides of the canal have a walkway with a few bridges where you can cross back & forth as you like. Bus stops are adjacent to the bridge entrances.

    Nice walkway

    Traveler rating:4 2018-12

This is a canal which was cleaned up by the government to promote a clean and healthy living environment. There are parks and pedestrians walkways on both sides of the canal. Many food shops are also located along the banks here due to the increasing residents and visitors.

Nice walk and a few surprises

    Traveler rating:4 2018-10

So I wanted to check out the canal. I was walking and so I continued to walk. When I first got to the canal I lifted my camera to get a picture of one of the bridges, alllll of them are different there are no two bridges that are alike which was nifty, but I got an even bigger surprise. After I took my photo I heard a splash. And to my surprise there are JUMPING fish! It was amazing! I spent quite a few minutes just taking pictures of the bridges trying to get a jumping fish with it! I had a great time as I wandered down towards the Fort.

    Nice and quiet for sunsets

To get a beautiful and calm view in Tainan, this is a nice area to shoot photography for sunsets and evening reflections in the water. It is a peaceful walk, as well.
