Yong Hsin Suspension Bridge(永興吊橋)

Traveler rating:3.5 4 Reviews

Yong Hsin Suspension Bridge (永興吊橋) is Tsengwen River's only suspension bridge, and at 497 meters long, it is Taiwan's longest suspension bridge. On holidays, the bright purple bridge always attracts tourists from all over Taiwan. The view of the Yong Hsin Suspension Bridge varies enormously depending on the time of day: in the day, the purple bridge's two layers are contrasted against green hills in the distance; at night, the LED lighting on the railings and steel cables shine brightly in the darkness, the bridge appearing as a dream-like bridge of light crossing high above the river, like a dazzling galaxy reflected on the water's surface.

Cool as a side stop, not worth going out of your way

The longest bridge in southern Taiwan, the Yong Xing Bridge is one of the popular tourist attractions in this part of Tainan particularly because of its proximity to Xuankong Temple, another popular tourist attraction. Yong Xing Bridge is a recently-erected suspended bridge that is heavily reinforced by multiple steel cables and supports over the Zengwen River. Although the bridge connects two villages, this bridge is purely for sightseeing of the beautiful Tainan nature! This is a cool sightseeing destination but I don't think it is worth going out of your way to visit unless you intend to visit the nearby Xuankong Temple. If you do visit this bridge, don't waste your time to cross to the other side from the temple because there are only a few shops ahead. My suggestion is to go to the middle of the bridge, admire the scenery (perhaps snap some shots), and go back.
