Koxinga Memorial Ceremony and Anniversary of Landing in Taiwan

Introduce

“Koxinga” was a folk hero who launched the settlement of Taiwan. Though he passed away just a year or so after arriving in Taiwan, his left a deep and abiding influence on the island. Many of the important historic buildings and cultural assets in Tainan City are closely linked to his legacy. The most unusual of these are the folk religions based around the Founding King and King of Yanping. Every year, on the anniversary for the founding of Koxinga ancestral temple, the Tainan City Government organizes a series of commemorative cultural and historical activities open to the general public.
