Tristan H., a YouTuber with 200,000 followers, is a blonde beauty from America. Today, she uploaded a video of her cruising through the historic streets of Tainan on a YouBike 2.0. The video featured a YouBike tour route, local delicacies in Tainan, as well as her rendition of the classic Taiwanese song “Tainanese.” The combination of her enchanting singing voice and lyrics that capture the memories of Tainan truly spoke to the heart.
Tainan Mayor Wei-che Huang stated that the international cycling magazine Momentum named Tainan one of the “12 amazing cities to explore by bicycle” along with the likes of Bern in Switzerland, Tel Aviv in Israel, and Odense in Denmark. Bike paths in Tainan now connect historic buildings and famous sights. The “Two Museums Bikeway” runs from the National Museum of Taiwan History through the Gold Coast to arrive at Chi Mei Museum. Relax and enjoy the seaside views along the way. Other bike paths include Jiangjun River (lined with cotton trees), Qigu, Yanshui River, and Canal Route bike paths. Whether it’s from the city to the countryside or from the mountains to the sea, take to the bicycle to discover a different side to Fucheng. Mayor Huang thanked Tristan for her input and invites everyone to come and try a low-carbon cycling tour of historic Tainan for themselves.
According to Director-General Lin Kuo-hua of the Tourism Bureau, the itinerary for Tristan’s latest visit is a combination of the “Canal Route Bikeway” and “Sea Leisure Bikeway” with stops at Salt Pan Eco-Culture Village, Yuguang Island, Eternal Golden Castle, Navy Destroyer, and Anping Old Street. The route brings together a wealth of local heritage including historic buildings, natural ecology, food and delicacies, culture and history to offer a relaxing yet educational casual tour. Everyone is welcome to come explore Tainan by bike.
The YouBike 2.0 bicycle system for Tainan City was launched in February this year. The system will be expanded to 300 stations by the end of November and reach its full complement of 500 stations by the end of 2024. The "YouBike 2.0 E” electric-assisted bicycles have been introduced as well as some people might want to ride for extended distances. The effort-saving bicycles will make it easier for older riders or tourists to get about downtown and cruise around Greater Tainan!
The show must go on at Tainan City! The “One Piece Sea Tide Festival” was held at Anping Recreational Wharf from 9/8 to 10/29. One Piece fans are invited to join the festival. The “2023 Taiwan Day Pass” campaign is still running too (until 10/31). When staying at licensed accommodation in the city participating in the campaign, scan the campaign QR Code and enter your accommodation details to receive a free pass for Greater China bus services and a chance to win over 300 prizes, including e-coupons from participating merchants.
