Mayor Wei-che Huang said that 14 aerial displays are planned during the Anping Lantern Festival with 500 flying drones involved in each session. The 12-minute performance of drones, fireworks, lasers, and light show will light up the night sky over Anping Fishing Harbor. The best lookouts will be the car park next to the 1661 Taiwan Warship Museum (Main Stage of the Anping Lantern Zone) and the open areas of Lin Mo-niang Memorial Park. He invites everyone to come and admire the lanterns and watch the show.

Tourism Bureau Director-General Kuo-hua Lin reminded everyone that no unauthorized drones are allowed to fly or film over Anping Fishing Harbor during the drone performance due to collision risks. Chengping Road car park will also be temporarily closed to the public from January 27 to March 13. Local residents and restaurant customers are therefore asked to park at the Blue Sea Pier car park instead. Traffic restrictions will be in force during performances for setting up fireworks and drone operations so there will be no vehicular or pedestrian access to the restricted areas. The restrictions will cover traffic in both directions along Chengping Road (from Alley 127 of Tongping Road to the south side of Anping Fishing Harbor Management Center, and traffic in both directions on Shiping Road (from Tongping Road to Chengping Road). There will be 20 days of traffic restrictions and these will take place on the following dates: February 2 ~ 4, February 2 ~ 9, February 16 ~ 18, February 23 ~ 25, March 1 ~ March 3, and March 8 ~ March 10. Restrictions will run from 0AM through to midnight on the affected dates. Road users are asked to avoid the restricted sections on these dates to ensure the success of the performances.

The Anping Lantern Zone of the “2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan” will consist of more than 30 lantern displays in two display zones with “Tainan 400” and “River of Luminescent Reminiscence” as their themes. Everyone is invited to come witness the history and future of Tainan! When the Anping Lantern Zone opens on February 3, Ming Hwa Yuan Arts and Culture Group will present Goddess Mazu, its biggest production in a decade, as the opening performance. A wide variety of programs and exciting performances from street performers, outstanding local performing arts groups and Taiwan-brand teams including indigenous peoples, the Hakka, new immigrants, as well as contemporary and traditional arts will also be featured during the lantern festival.
