It is one of the most influential international awards in the field of creative design. The "Fan-shaped Salt Field Tree of Life" landscape artwork created by artist Yang Shi-yi attracted over 170,000 visitors in just two months since its opening in August of last year, showcasing the beauty of Taiwan's one and only salt field natural landscape environment. Professor Huang Ya-ling of Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology led the team from Yunlin University of Science and Technology's Visual Communication Design Department to design two Christmas trees with the theme "Tainan 400" at the Spring (Hele Plaza) and Xinying Cultural Center Square, both of which won awards.
The "Tainan 400 - Rising from the Pages of Time" Christmas tree at the Spring won the Platinum Award in the Concept Design category - Travel and Recreation, as well as four Gold Awards in the Lighting, Communication, Exhibition and Event, and Public Space categories, winning a total of five awards. The Tourism Bureau has detailed the "Fan-Shaped Salt Field Tree of Life," an artwork inspired by artist Yang Shi-yi that merges ecological education with a water-friendly design, drawing from the textured environment and cultural backdrop of the fan-shaped salt fields. This piece celebrates the beauty and enduring spirit of the salt fields, exemplifying Tainan's rich cultural heritage and its commitment to innovative artistry. Additionally, the "Tainan 400 - Rising from the Pages of Time," crafted by the team from YunTech, is prominently featured beside the Tainan Canal. This installation enhances the "Tainan 400" series of activities with its magnificent Christmas tree and intricate lighting decorations. It successfully garnered the Muse Grand Prize amid intense competition from numerous outstanding international submissions. The Tourism Bureau has expressed its appreciation for the team's diligent efforts and the global recognition they have achieved. They pledge to uphold this honor and continue their endeavors to make Tainan a "better and happier" place.
