The Tourism Administration of Ministry of Transportation and Communications recently announced the new “Taiwan Tourism 100 Spotlights”. A press conference was also held to introduce six themed itineraries for the whole year as well as promotional giveaways worth more than NT$1 million. The six sights from Tainan that made the new list were Guanziling Hot Spring Scenic Area, Fan-shaped Salt Fields (Tree of Life), Sicao Green Tunnel, Golden Coast, Tainan Shan-Shang Garden and Old Waterworks Museum, and Yanshui-Yuejin Harbor Historic District.
Mayor Huang Wei-che stated that the six sights included mountains, the sea, historic buildings, side streets, natural ecology, as well as emerging sights. All were tourist destinations and activities popular with tourists in recent years. Their inclusion was only to be expected, and the sights are already highly recommended by other tourists. This year marks the 400th anniversary of Tainan whose rich cultural heritage and unique style of tourism meant there were many other highly qualified destinations that could have had been shortlisted if there were sufficient places. In the future, Tainan will continue to balance culture with tourism, and tourism facilities and services will be upgraded to cultivate the Tainan City brand.
Tainan City Tourism Bureau Director-General Lin Guo-hua said that Tainan boasts a distinctive culture of its own as an ancient city. There are a wide variety of choices for food, drink, entertainment, and recreation and new activities are constantly being concocted as well. Whatever your age, group size, or preferences, you can always choose an itinerary with a pace, transportation, and activities is right for you. Tainan is collaborating with the MOTC Tourism Administration on the “100 Ways of Taiwan WAY” exhibition at Songshan Cultural Creative Park. A “Travel in Style Chill” will be held on November 23 and 24 as well. Members of the public that enjoy visiting Tainan should stop by the Tainan booth to check-in for a small and exquisite gift.
The Tourism Bureau added that Tainan has a packed event schedule from now through to the New Year.
