The Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has announced that the Route 111 Kaohsiung International Airport-Tainan Express bus service promoted by the Tourism Bureau of Tainan City Government will be incorporated into the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle program this year (2025). The move will boost the marketing and delivery of more convenient tourism transportation that will allow international tourists to travel directly to Tainan. Marketing and promotion will be maintained in the future to raise the route’s profile and improve the quality of service. Hotel operators are encouraged to recommend the route to international visitors to continue enhancing their visibility in the international market.

Mayor Huang Wei-che said that the bus route has five stops: Kaohsiung International Airport, Barclay Memorial Park, Shangri-La Hotel, Tainan Bus Station, and Xiaoximen (Little West Gate). There are four round-trip routes per day, for a total of eight departures. Data shows that the most popular services from Kaohsiung International Airport are the ones that depart at 00:30 and 17:00 for Tainan. For those traveling from Tainan to the airport, most travelers choose the bus services departing at 03:30 and 11:00. International travelers include those from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and so on. There are also some travelers from North America, Europe, and Australia. He hoped that the service would continue to provide a convenient transportation service that encourages more international travelers to visit Tainan and stimulates the development of Tainan’s tourism market.

Director-General Lin Kuo-hua said that the bus livery will be updated and the ticketing platform optimized later this year for compatibility with the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle program. Existing stations and schedules will also be reviewed on a rolling basis. Foreign language proficiency of the driver will be enhanced as well as part of ongoing quality improvements to services. Tickets for the shuttle service can now be purchased on international e-commerce platforms such as KKday, Klook, Lion Travel, and Tainan Easy Trip, with the websites providing services in four languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. Shuttle tickets can also be purchased as part of the diverse travel packages offered on these platforms for international tourists.

Han Cheng Bus Services, the route operator, stated that the company is committed to ensuring “safety” and “punctuality” of its services. The route passes through the Nansi-Dingjing Interchange on the southward section of No. 1 National Highway, so the drivers are trained on alternative routes in case of unexpected congestion to ensure that every traveler can arrive on time for their flight.

Reminder from Han Cheng Bus Services
(1) The route is a shuttle service for travelers flying in and out of Kaohsiung International Airport. It is not a metropolitan service for short trips within Tainan City. Services from Tainan to the airport will therefore only pick up passengers at intervening stops; services from the airport to Tainan will only drop off passengers at intervening stops.
(2) The full fare for this route is NT$300. Travelers should note at the time of booking, concession fares may only be purchased by eligible concession-holders.
