The approaching Dragon Boat Festival heralds the coming of summer. The corresponding increase in demand for cooling appliances such as fans and air-conditioning means higher power demand and pressure on reserve generating capacity. Mayor Huang Wei-che said that Tainan City has put a lot of effort into green energy such as electric buses and wind power in support of global environmental sustainability goals. He also hoped that the public could learn through their travels all the different green energy sights that can be found in Tainan.

Director-General Lin Kuo-hua from the Tourism Bureau of Tainan City Government said that the May issue of Sababoy Leads the Way will feature sights related to green energy throughout Greater Tainan. The perspective on green energy means travelers will be able to learn about the latest advances in green energy and choose an environmentally friendly way to relax during their travels. For example, they can choose public transport over private transport, hire shared electric vehicles, ride public bicycles, or choose eco-friendly accommodation and bring their own eco-mugs/hotel amenities to reduce their environmental impact and practice sustainability during their travels. This month’s e-publication included an e-coupon for a signature dish from “Dong Shang Taiwanese Seafood” as well. Simply download the coupon and show it in the e-newsletter at the restaurant to use. The coupon is valid from 2025/7/1 to 2025/9/30. Everyone is encouraged to download and take advantage of this little travel bonus.

The Sababoy Leads the Way e-newsletter is published each month in the “Travel Tainan” fan page at different times. Electronic publishing is used to save on printing, transportation and warehousing costs while providing travelers with travel information in an energy-efficient and low-carbon manner. The high-quality version can also be downloaded from the “Tainan Travel” website to make planning their next vacation in Tainan quick and easy.

According to the Tourism Bureau, ongoing interest in “sustainable travel” in recent years has led businesses to incorporate sustainability elements in their activities as well. The “2025 Carrefour Arts Festival - Arts in Tainan (家樂福文化藝術季-i在臺南藝起回)” running from 5/23 ~ 5/25 will be held at the Tainan Municipal Xinying Stadium. The program includes 3 national-level night shows (by the Coming True Fire Group, PaperWindmill Theater, and Ten-Drum Percussion Group), 8 festival-only day shows x local groups, and the iMarket with over a hundred sustainability-themed stalls. The sustainability focus will be on “non-caged eggs” to encourage travelers to select ingredients that are friendly to animals and better for the environment. There will also be grand parades of sustainability mascots on the day. Everyone is welcome to join in practicing sustainability. Don't forget to bring your own eco-friendly containers as well as disposable utensils will not be provided on the day. Either bring your own or rent to care for our planet by reducing plastic waste.
