As part of ongoing efforts to promote international tourism from Vietnam, the Tourism Bureau of Tainan City Government and the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications both took part in the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC) held from September 4 to September 6, 2025, at the Saigon Exhibition Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Tainan’s food, culture and specialty itineraries were showcased to let the local Vietnamese people know that “Truly Taiwan” can be found in Tainan. In addition to the successful promotion of Tainan tourism at ITE HCMC and reporting by local mainstream media TTXVN, a B2B tourism promotion conference was also organized at Da Nang, an important tourism hub in Vietnam. Local tour agents were introduced to Tainan’s wealth of travel components and unique tourism charms to encourage more Vietnamese travel operators to bring their customers to Tainan.
Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che said that Tainan is renowned as the “Cultural Capital of Taiwan” due to the city’s long history and varied travel resources. In 2024, more than 5.3 million Vietnamese traveled overseas. Many new immigrants from Vietnam have also settled down in Tainan. Growing demand for business travel, family visits, and tourism has made Vietnam a key target market for Tainan. The latest international promotion event will hopefully introduce more Vietnamese travelers to the culture, food, and tourism highlights of Tainan, and make Tainan travel the best choice for Vietnamese travelers arriving in Taiwan.
Director-General Lin Kuo-hua from the Tourism Bureau of Tainan City said that Vietnam is an important source of Southeast Asia customers for Taiwan. Demand for backpacker and family tours has grown steadily in recent years. Taking part in the ITE and hosting promotion conferences will not only raise Tainan’s profile in the Vietnamese travel market but also bring about greater exchange and collaboration with local travel agencies, media, and airlines. The theme of “Truly Taiwan - Tainan” was chosen this year so that Vietnamese travelers can experience the most culturally and hospitable city in Taiwan. This will help boost their interest in visiting Taiwan as well. The latest promotion should give Vietnamese travelers a better understanding of Tainan. The ongoing boost to international tourism exchange and the travel economy in 2025 will highlight the unique value of Tainan as the cultural heart of Taiwan.
According to the Tourism Bureau, the Vietnam promotion program saw the Bureau establish a Tainan Booth at the ITE HCMC held from September 4 to September 6. The booth showcased the rich travel resources and urban features of Tainan to the Vietnamese public. The booth with its Tainan theme was also interviewed and reported by TTXVN, a local Vietnamese mainstream media. Tainan also took part in the B2B tourism promotion conferences held in Da Nang on September 3, and in Ho Chi Minh City on September 8. Presentations and introductions were used to share with local travel agents and airlines “The six reasons you must visit Tainan.” The recommendation of classic travel itineraries for Tainan helped local Vietnamese travel agents design attractive travel products. Closer collaboration was also established with the industry. As part of the ITE events, well-known Vietnamese influencer Phu Du Hi was invited to visit the booth and recommend Tainan attractions/itineraries to Vietnamese fans. Travel influencer Sơn Ra Khe (Thái Hoàng Sơn) was also invited to interact with the public on the day. By sharing his own travel experiences in Tainan, the tourism charm of Tainan was communicated to young people and family travelers in Vietnam in a truthful and lively manner. Tainan dried mango, dried pineapple, and custom eco-bags were also given away through a pop quiz to attract more interest in Taiwan from the Vietnamese public. Vietnamese travelers are also sincerely invited to visit Tainan for themselves and feel the unique urban charm of Tainan.
