Mayor Huang Wei-che of Tainan City said that the “Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos-Tainan” event will be held over three consecutive days between February 20 and 22 in 2026. The event has drawn the attention of Pokémon trainers from around the world to Tainan as they embark on an adventure inspired by the Kalos region. The developer will introduce a variety of new content during the event including the first-ever appearance of “Shiny Diancie”, shiny Pokémon, Masterwork Research, and raid rewards. Taiwan Metropolitan Park will also present three eye-catching themed habitats in the real world for players to embark on their adventure. A night-time only “Mega Night” will also be held for the first time.
According to the Pokémon GO website, during the three-day event, ticket-holding trainers will be able to encounter the “Shiny Diancie”, a Shiny Pokémon that is making its first-ever appearance. They will also encounter stylish Pikachu wearing Calem's hat or Serena’s hat.
During the three-day event, Tainan Metropolitan Park will set up three themed habitats in the real world for the first time: Central Village, Coastal Laboratory, and Mountain Manor. Trainers can choose which habitat to start in when they buy their ticket. The Park will also contain “Furfrou” PokéStops where trainers can unlock different “Furfrou” trims and engage in Timed Research that must be completed by 17:00 local time on the day. Normally, “Furfrou” can only change its trim in certain areas around the world or during special events, so take this opportunity to try out lots of new looks!
Director-General Lin Kuo-hua from the Tainan City Tourism Bureau said that unlike past events, a night-time “Mega Night” will be introduced for the first time. Trainers will not only be able to catch Pokémon at the event site but also take part in the special sensory experience created by the organizers.
Outside of the main venue, there are other content to explore throughout Tainan during the three-day event as well. Trainers can purchase Citywide Gameplay Add-ons to extend the event by up to two days and continue enjoying the “Go Tour” in downtown Tainan! Trainers can use this opportunity to experience the rich local history, culture and cuisines. Please consider staying for at least two nights to make sure you can catch all the Pokémon in Tainan.
As the event will coincide with the Lunar New Year holidays, the Tourism Bureau reminds trainers to book accommodation and itineraries as early as possible. Express shuttle buses to Tainan Metropolitan Park will also be organized by City Hall during the event. Trainers are therefore encouraged to use public transport such as trains, buses, and shuttles to get to the park.
